SPH Fee Schedule

Secure Payment Handling (SPH). This service is available to buyers (for a reasonable fee) on Guntopia when purchasing a firearm using both selling methods of Firm Price, and Negotiate-the-Price. Both the buyer and seller benefits from the added security of this service.

Information regarding the SPH process:

• Credit Cards -Firm Price. The bidder is requested (by Guntopia) for credit card information to process the purchase. Upon successful payment processing, the ad is closed.

• Credit Cards -Negotiate-the-Price. The bidder is requested for credit card information on those bids falling in the seller’s “trading range”. Each bid offering and subsequent counter-bid offerings are backed by the credit card. Meaning, if the seller accepts any of the bids/counter-bids, the card is processed for payment. If the seller doesn’t accept any of the bids/counter-bids, the card is not charged.

• Payment Processing – On successful Firm Price, and Negotiate-the-Price sales, Guntopia processes the buyer’s credit card for the successful sale price of the item, plus the shipping cost as defined by the seller in the ad. These funds (sale proceeds) are held by Guntopia to be forwarded to the seller upon the completion of the transaction.

• Email Notices. The SPH system is highly automated using emails to notify the parties of the what’s, when’s, and who’s of the deal. The buyer and seller will each receive an email with the sale particulars of: sale price and shipping cost, description, firearm serial number. The buyer’s FFLdealerNet Dealer is notified of a pending transfer. Upon the collection (“good funds”) of sale proceeds, the seller is notified of who and where to ship the firearm.

• Buyer’s Inspection Period – The buyer is notified by the FFLdealerNet Dealer upon the arrival of the firearm at the dealer. If the buyer is a 01 FFL Dealer, the firearm is shipped directly to them. The buyer inspects the actual firearm during the delivery process at the FFLdealerNet Dealer to determining if the manufacturer, model, and gauge/caliber of the actual firearm are what were advertised in the ad listing. This inspection process is different and separate from the seller’s return policy. During the inspection process if:
  • All Goes Well – Where the actual firearm matches the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, and gauge/caliber, a check will be sent to the seller within 3 business days from the date of delivery.

  • All Does Not Go Well - Where the actual firearm matches the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, or gauge/caliber, BUT the buyer is not happy with other issues and/or condition of the firearm, the buyer does not have the option to cancel the deal under SPH. You must take delivery and pursue the seller for remedy. Guntopia does not have the authority to withhold funds from the seller in this situation. However, if Guntopia is served with legal documents to withhold payment to the seller, Guntopia will cooperate with all legal proceedings.

  • Listing Discrepancy – Where the actual firearm does not match the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, or gauge/caliber the buyer may have the transaction void and receive a refund of money paid.

• Payment to Seller – Where there are no claims of a listing discrepancy by the buyer, a check for the sale amount (plus shipping cost) will be mailed, using regular USPS, within 3 business days to the seller’s address (in member registration).
