Getting Paid

Typical Selling on Guntopia (without SPH) - On ads, which result in a sale, an email is sent to the buyer and seller with each other's email address. The members are to contact one another to make arrangements for payment and delivery terms. To protect the privacy of the members, we only give out the email address. It is up to the members to release their private information, such as phone number and street address.

Here are the steps in an SPH transaction (AVAILABLE FOR FIREARM BUYERS ONLY, IF SELECTED):

  • Secured Payment - During both selling methods of Firm Price or Negotiate-the-Price selling, the buyer's credit card information is given to Guntopia to back the purchase or each bid/counter-bid offer to the seller.

  • Successful Sales - When the ad is closed with a Firm Price purchase or successful price negotiations, Guntopia processes the buyer's credit card for the successful sale price of the item, plus the shipping cost as defined by the seller in the ad.

  • Safekeeping of Funds - Guntopia holds onto the funds to be forwarded to the seller upon the completed delivery of the item to the buyer.

  • Buyer's Inspection Period - On SPH the buyer has the opportunity to inspect the purchased item at the FFLdealerNet Dealer during transfer. Or, if the buyer is a 01 FFL Dealer, the buyer makes this inspection immediately upon the firearms' arrival. The inspection is limited to determining if the manufacturer, model, and gauge/caliber of the actual firearm are what were advertised in the ad listing. This inspection period IS NOT the same as the seller's return policy.

    • All Goes Well - Where the actual firearm matches the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, and gauge/caliber, a check will be sent to the seller within 3 business days from the date of delivery.

    • All Does Not Go Well - Where the actual firearm matches the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, or gauge/caliber, BUT the buyer is not happy with other issues and/or condition of the firearm, the buyer does not have the option to cancel the deal under SPH. You must take delivery and pursue the seller for remedy. Guntopia does not have the authority to withhold funds from the seller in this situation. However, if Guntopia is served with legal documents to withhold payment to the seller, Guntopia will cooperate with all legal proceedings.

    • Listing Discrepancy - Where the actual firearm does not match the ad listing descriptions of manufacturer, model, or gauge/caliber the buyer may have the transaction voided and receive a refund of money paid.

In the event the Buyer makes the claim of a "Listing Discrepancy", Guntopia shall investigate and, at its sole discretion, make a determination based on the criteria in the User Agreement. A "Listing Discrepancy" is defined as where any one of the following: Manufacturer, Model, and/or Caliber/Gauge does not match what is listed in the ad listing). Other information contained in the Ad Details page, such as the NRA Grade, description box of the ad shall not be considered in the determination of a listing discrepancy. If Guntopia determines that the Seller has committed a Listing Discrepancy, as defined in the Guntopia User Agreement, the Buyer will be entitled to request a refund. The return of the firearm and the assessment of return and handling charges to the Seller will be handled as provided for in the Guntopia User Agreement. Please be honest and accurate in the description of your firearms when selling.

Buyers and Sellers Beware! SPH transactions require all deliveries to be handled by an FFL Dealer (FFLdealerNet™ Dealer). Buyers, if you do not pass all required background checks (NICS), you will forfeit the firearm. This means that you cannot take delivery of the firearm that you have just bought and paid for. NO refunds on fees, cost, or the purchase price of the firearm. This policy also applies to the seller where a firearm is returned to the seller. If you are a 01 FFL dealer and registered as such, you will not have to go through an FFL Dealer for deliveries or returns.
